Le Trois Rois Grand Hotel – Basel, Switzerland

 

 

 

I attended Basel World last year and stumble upon this hotel,
Le Trois Rois Grand Hotel, it was the historical structure in city centre. It was there I had one of the best steak tartare I ever had!
 the initial plan was to have a glass of wine at the hotel cafe,
who knew it turns out to be really good & fresh.

La Maison de la Truffe – Paris, France

Maison de la Truffe, located at the base of the columns of the Madeleine Church, is the original showcase for truffles in Paris. The only place I can think of to savour the truffle in all its forms, cut, chiselled and arranged to order for the pleasure of your five senses.

 

the exciting part of the dishes is that you get to choose the type of truffles according to your preference! 1. Season Truffle, 2. Black Melanosporum or  3. without truffle
it really depends on how much you willing to spend! lol
even the olive oil is filled with truffle shavings!

Tagliatelles with Truffles, Foie Gras and Truffled Cream

I was very excited with the idea of anything you desire with Truffles are available in the restaurant! Little did I know, I was overdosed by Truffles by the time I reach main course! When the waiter asked if I want any desserts! I had completely lost my appetite for truffled practically anything!
If you love truffle! this is place you must eat at! I love truffle a lot! but it can get overwhelming! haha
Its expensive dinning here but worthwhile to have a dosage of a year’s truffle allowance!
FYI. they make truffle macarons too!

Restaurant Het Pomphuis – Antwerp Belgium

Het Pomphuis, literally means The Pumphouse.
Located on the harbour of Antwerp, Belgium this abandoned pumphouse was refurbished into modern cuisine restaurant. Having your dinner here is rather unique because of the high ceilings and vast space to entertain. The set menu is only under 50 euros.

The set menu is a fair with modern plating. The highlight would be the pork ribs cube! (Duroc De Batalle Batonnets)

This is by far the most exciting restaurant I ever been to in New York City. Its a very limited seats place with amazingly well utilized of the pork! Table booking is definitely a must for this little gem! I personally enjoyed the pork cheeks and pork belly dish!
Be warned, they only take your orders once (so decide if you need two main course haha) and will not entertain any additional or re-fire of dishes you really enjoyed. The reason being they have a long line of customers waiting to be seated for dinner next!

In the middle of the sumptuous lounges on the first floor of the Maison Baccarat in the 16th district, the Cristal Room restaurant offers an inventive cuisine orchestrated by the Michelin starred chef Guy Martin. In this exceptional setting of the Cristal Room Baccarat, former private hotel of Marie-Laure de Noailles, reinvented by Philippe Starck, we can also appreciate as a museum the heritage collection and the famous ballroom of “Vicomtesse du Bizarre”. A superb setting for the contemporary cuisine.

Dinner here is an experience, the decor does set the mood for a romantic dinner. I felt one dish particularly was off key! the Salmon roll was pretty bad. The veal and Seabass main were excellent. The wine pairings are rather unique! I felt like His Royal Highness for a day! As we all

know, the Sultan of Brunei’s Palaces’ Hall are decked with Chandeliers by Baccarat!

Osteria Mozza Singapore is the identical restaurant Mario Batali created based in Los Angeles.
The food here are impeccably authentic! The dishes that sings for me were the Crispy Pig Trotter, Ravioli and Brasato al Barolo Short Ribs.
The desserts are decadent, especially the panna cotta is by far, my favorite here.

My favorite dish here is the Wagyu Beef steak! its a large portion enough for 2, among the rest,
Sea Urchin and Scallops are equally fresh and delightful.

Marutama Ramen! I have always been a big fan of noodles with good soup!
Marutama is just spot on with their well bodied stock! I presumed they boiled it over long hours.
This ramen place actually only have a few variation, original or spicy. Other side dishes like tamago or char siews really compliments the bowls of ramen.
They started to have a few branches in Singapore now.
Its good place to be when you are craving for soups!

L’atelier de Joel Robuchon – Paris

One of my good friend who happens to be relocated in Paris, and her forte happens to be Restaurant PR back in Singapore. What better place to be than in Paris, the Haute Cuisine city!
She suggested this bang for bucks lunch set menu, way before Joel Robuchon sets up a satellite restaurant in Singapore. She explicitly highly recommended it.
Soon then I realized, it is indeed the world’s best mashed potatoes I ever had.
JR have multiple restaurant in Paris. This the Joel Robuchon at Champs Elysees.

Heston Blumenthal has been some of the most exciting Chef I have ever followed on tv! His different perspective and take of our existing techniques always produced a mind blowing dish!
I had a short weekend stay in London and of course I will try my best to secure a table at Dinner by Heston within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. (Tube: Knightsbridge Station)

Dinner is immaculate! I love the presentation. The beef and the pigeon is well prepared.
Unfortunately for me, I was so stuffed with the Wine and side dishes, or else! I would attack the Dessert Menu!
Brown Bread Ice Cream or Taffety Tart are highly recommended too!
Definitely will return to Dinner By Heston whenever I visit London!
